They're called "Life Lists" and "Bucket Lists."
Whether it's written down or spinning around in your head, everyone has a wish list of things they'd like to accomplish in their life time, before you..."kick the bucket."
This category is an attempt to build a waymarking Life List of sites, cities, and experiences around the world as indexed in travel writer Patricia Schultz's books, 1000 Places to See Before you Die: A Traveler's Life List, and 1000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die.
Check out a copy of the books at the local library or buy a copy yourself. You may even find something nearby on the sample listings at 1000beforeyoudie.com. Maybe the author's list doesn't include items on your own life list. Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll find the books interesting and informative.
Maybe it will inspire you to start your own Life List.

With the exception of major cities (New York, Rome, London, etc.), only one waymark submission per indexed site (in the book) will be accepted. Some indexed major cities include multiple sub-indexes which are acceptable submissions.
NOTE: Only indexed and subiindexed sites from the book are elligible for submission.

Instructions for Posting a 1000 Places to See Before You Die Waymark:

PLEASE DO NOT quote from the book in your waymark descriptions. Applicable laws forbid the electronic reproduction of copyrighted material.
Many of the indexed sites, cities, and experiences are non-localized (without specific GPS coordinates). Waymark submissions must provide information that will inform and guide visitors including:
-Title of waymark should list site and location as noted in the book (Kennedy Space Center - Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA)
-Photos of recognizable landmarks and scenic places mentioned in the book
-Accurate GPS coords taken from representative, photographed site
-Hours and admission where necessary
-Dates of festivals and events where necessary
Adventure/Experiences (Example: Tracking the Mountain Gorilla-Uganda, Swimming with Manatees-Florida) may use coords for businesses that are used but must provide ample photos of experience.
Events (Example: Monarch Butterfly Migration-Mexico and Carnival-Brazil) should provide coordinates and dates of the experience along with first person photos of the event.
Please help future waymark visitors approximate your initial experience at the waymarked site.
Only entries in the above mentioned Patricia Schultz books will be accepted in this category.

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:

Because of the vastness of many of the "non-localized" sites (Gobi Desert, Great Wall of China), waymark owners are encouraged to allow visits that reflect different perspectives and experiences.
Localized waymark sites (Structures, Landmarks, Businesses) should reflect standard waymarking visit criteria (Logs & photos).
