Abandoned Train Tunnels
 allows ratings
Description:
In the decline of the railroad industry, many railpaths have been dismantled, often leaving tunnels through hillsides abandoned. Some have been nearly forgotten, others have been reborn for new uses such as a rails to trails pathway. Whatever the condition, as long as the tunnel is no longer active, it can be listed here.
Expanded Description:
Any inactive railroad tunnel can be listed. Tunnels that are a part of a rails to trails path, subway, or any other kind - so long as it had tracks and a train of some sort passed through it, it can be listed. Feel free to contact us, if you have a question about a particular site.
Instructions for Posting a Abandoned Train Tunnels Waymark:
At least one good photo showing the tunnel should be included with the listing. Coordinate should be for one of the portals, or as close as possible. A coordinate for the opposite portal is a nice bonus.

Please include any information you can find about the tunnel: when it was built, when it was abandoned, original use, railroad company, number of tracks, tunnel length, etc.
