The Main Channel Dam, along with the Dry Channel Dam, was one of two dams required to create the Thompson Falls Hydroelectric Station. It is the larger of the two dams and is about ¾ mile upstream from the powerhouse.

The Thompson Falls Hydroelectric Dam project was initiated in 1910, coinciding with the construction of this, the first real medical facility to be built in the region. It was the brainchild of Dr. Everett Peek, also a principal in the dam project.

This root cellar was built/dug in 1908, during the fort's largest period of renovation, from 1904 to 1912. A large root cellar, it extends underground for 30 feet from the entrance and is at least 20 feet wide.

In 1906 the quartermaster's store, or exchange, was built. Five years later, in 1911, this 1 1/2 storey brick quartermaster's storehouse was built. Strangely, though, it is situated quite a distance from the exchange building.

This stone obelisk, erected circa 1928, contains a copper plaque noting Fort Missoula's origin on June 7, 1877, begun by a detachment of the Seventh Regiment of the U.S. Infantry.

This boiler plant with tall brick cooling tower/chimney was built circa 1947. At that time the post was used as a military prison. When it was in operation the boiler operator used the building as a residence.

Built in 1906 as the post exchange or quartermaster's store, the building also served as a recreation hall. Later, in 1962, it became the post headquarters. After the closing of the post it has housed various other agencies.
