The co-ordinates given are for the Church Lane entrance to the underpass where a stainless-steel plaque (see photos) advises of the Hitchcock Gallery. All the exhibits are mosaics.

This mosaic is entitled "Strangers on a Train". The plaque, at the mosaic, tells us:

Strangers on a Train
1951

Based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith and co-scripted by Raymond Chandler, this is the story of the psychotic Bruno, brilliantly played by Robert Walker, who suggests exchanging murder victims with Guy. played by Farley Granger a stranger that happens by chance to share the same train.

Bruno (Robert Walker):"Some people are better off dead - like your wife and my father for instance."

The mosaic shows two figures having a fight on a fairground merry-go-round. The inside of the top of the merry-go-round is made from dark pieces to give a night time effect. Some bright yellow and orange pieces are used for lamps. Of the two characters, one is wearing a green suit and the other a blue suit. The floor of the merry-go-round is made from yellow pieces. The heads of two horses are made from bright colours - mainly yellow and reds.

The mosaic is about four feet high by three feet wide.

Specific visit requirements:
The mosaics are in a pedestrian underpass that runs beneath the Central Line tracks at Leytonstone station and is open 24/7. This is a public area so no ticket is required.
