Survey benchmark placed in 1979.
Benchmark is located in the middle of the pavement near the intersection of the paved road on the dike and the access road used to reach the top of the dike.
To reach this benchmark and this section of the dike, take the access road just north of the Port Mayaca bridge. Pedestrian traffic is not allowed across the lock from the south.
This benchmark is located less than 10 feet from NGS Benchmark AD8713. The NGS benchmark is located off the pavement and has an access cover so there should be no possibility of confusing the two.
I have have found the ACOE databasheet for this benchmark. The databasheet has the right location and correctly lists it as being stamped "7A". But the datasheet lists the mark as monumented in 1995 while the benchmark is clearly stamped "1979".
